"Pedro Martinez gave me some good advice. He said, 'Do the interviews but don't ever read a paper here.' So that's what I did. I would be in the on-deck circle and fans would yell, 'We love you Orlando. We don't care what the papers say.' I wondered what in the world the papers were saying, but I never looked." - Orlando Cabrera (Herb Crehan, 11/07/2014, Orlando Cabrera Remembers the 2004 World Championship, Source)

Orlando Cabrera Stats by Baseball Almanac |
Orlando Cabrera only played fifty-eight games for the 2004 Boston Red Sox, a team that went on to sweep the 2004 St. Louis Cardinals in the 2004 World Series. In 2005, O-Cab was playing for the cross-country Angels and here is his memory of returning to Fenway:
"When I came back to Boston with the Angels in 2005, I didn't know what to expect. When I came to bat for the first time (Jason) Varitek said, 'Get ready.'
I didn't know what he meant but when they announced, 'Now batting for the Angels, number 18, Orlando Cabrera,' every fan stood up and started cheering. Tek got out of his crouch so the moment could continue and I appreciated that.
You have to understand, I wasn't the kind of player who got standing ovations or curtain calls. I did the little things that helped my team win. That ovation really meant a lot.
I will never forget that moment. And I will never forget the great fans of the Boston Red Sox."

Did you know that Omar Vizquel and Orlando Cabrera are the only two shortstops in baseball history to win a Gold Glove Award in both the American and National League?
Did you know that Orlando Cabrera was the fifth Colombian-born Major League player, following Lou Castro (1902-1902), Orlando Ramirez (1974-1979), Jackie Gutierrez (1983-1988), and Edgar Renteria (1996-2011) into the show? Too easy? Did you know that the year after Orlando made his debut, his brother, Jolbert Cabrera, made his debut, the first Major League Colombian siblings.
The Montreal Expos (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) were the first Major League Baseball franchise located outside the United States. They played in the National League East from 1969 until 2004 (after that they relocated to Washington, D.C. and became the Washington Nationals). During there time in Montreal, only four players ever appeared in all 162 regular season games, Rusty Staub (1971), Ken Singleton (1973), Warren Cromartie (1980), and Orlando Cabrera - the only Expo to appear in all 162 games twice (2001 & 2003).
