Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"He's (Bartolo Colón) going to bully you with his fastball. You've just got to be patient with him and get a good pitch and allow him to make a mistake." - Monroe, Craig. Post Game Press Conference. Angel Stadium of Anaheim. 15 September 2005.

Did you know that only eighteen pitchers in Major League Baseball history have earned a win against all thirty Major League teams? Sportswriter AJ Cassavell once wrote, "Beating one Major League team figures to be difficult enough for a starting pitcher. Beating all 30 of them, however, is nothing short of pitching history." We agree and are pleased to present the I've Beaten Every Major League Team "club" that includes these 18 twirlers: Kevin Brown, A.J. Burnett, Bartolo Colon, Dan Haren, Tim Hudson, Randy Johnson, John Lackey, Al Leiter (who started the "club"), Kyle Lohse, Derek Lowe, Jamie Moyer, Terry Mulholland, Vicente Padilla, Max Scherzer, Curt Schilling, Javier Vazquez, Woody Williams and Barry Zito.

Bartolo Colon set a new Major League record on May 7, 2016, becoming the oldest player (42 years, 349 days) in Major League Baseball history to hit his first career home run! The previous record holder, hall of famer Randy Johnson, was "only" 40 years, 9 days old, when he hit his first career home run on September 19, 2003!

On August 8, 2014, Bartolo Colon recorded his two-hundredth career win, a 5–4 victory against the Philadelphia Phillies, becoming the third Dominican-born pitcher to reach the 200-wins plateau, joining hall of famers Juan Marichal (243 Wins) and Pedro Martinez (219 Wins). Four years later, on August 7, 2018, Big Sexy won his 246th career game, making Bartolo the winningest pitcher born in Latin America! Do you know what 4x All-Star he passed? Clues: He was born in Nicaragua. [Answer]
