"(Jim) Riggleman made special note of (Ryan) Feierabend's composure. 'Ryan has a real good mound presence,' Riggleman said. 'He has a mature feel about him, not like he's 22, 23. You feel like he’s a veteran out there.'" - Seattle Times Columnist Larry Stone (09/08/2008, M’s fill-in Ryan Feierabend is solid in 5-2 win over NY, Source)

Ryan Feierabend Stats by Baseball Almanac |
Ryan Robert Feierabend is an active Major League Baseball player who pitched for the Seattle Mariners (2006-2008), Texas Rangers (2014), and Toronto Blue Jays (2019-Today). Ryan was the first player drafted out of Midview High School (Grafton, Ohio) and started pitching professionally, in the minor leagues, at age 17!
On September 13, 2006, Ryan Feierabend made his Major League debut, did not surrender a hit during his relief appearance (2 innings pitched), and became the first Seattle Mariners player to wear ##63 in a regular season game!
On May 18, 2019, Ryan Feierabend returned to the majors after a five-year absence, was the starting pitcher (something he hadn't done in more than 10 years), and threw a four-inning complete game (rain-shortened). Feierabend was the first Blue Jays pitcher to record a four-inning complete game, and the twelfth in American League history.
Those who came before him were: Ross Grimsley (September 15, 1977), Dick Drago (July 30, 1971), Don Larsen (July 30, 1958), Bill Cox (September 24, 1939), Whit Wyatt (September 29, 1937), Stew Bowers (September 29, 1935), Danny MacFayden (September 9, 1932), Fritz Coumbe (July 19, 1918), Red Faber (September 7, 1914), Curly Brown (October 5, 1913), and Buck O'Brien (September 17, 1912).
Feierabend, in the post game press conference, talked about his journey back to the majors, saying, "I took not really a detour, but an alternate route to get back here, going overseas the last four years. And I think it really helped me develop my knuckleball, and that’s basically what separated me and got me back to the big leagues."
While Feierabend was getting the line-up card signed by his teammates as a momento, he was made aware of how rare 4-inning complete games were, and added, "I came up with Seattle a long time ago, 2006 was my debut, and I never got anything like that from them, so that’s the foremost reason why I wanted guys to sign it, but I also found out it was kind of a piece of history. I'm one of a few guys to have a four-inning complete game in their career!"
Ryan Feierabend had Tommy John surgery in 2009, causing him to miss the entire season and delay his journey back to the majors. After being designated for assignment by the Rangers, he elected free agency, and agreed to play baseball for the Kiwoom Heroes Baseball Club, in the KBO League (South Korean Baseball). Five years later, Ryan found himself back in the majors!
