Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"Tommy Gastall was a sad case. He showed some promise, and he became a good catcher right away, and had good savvy, and he had the intestinal fortitude. He showed leadership qualities, and he was becomin' a fair hitter, but he got a little money and bought himself an airplane, and it wasn't a week or so he got killed in that doggone plane. He would've been a good ballplayer, in my estimation. Good arm, and, mainly, he had the guts of a burglar." - Vincent, Al. Baltimore Orioles Coach (1955-1959). (Kelley, Brent.
