Louis Junior Grasmick was a Major League Baseball player with the Philadelphia Phillies (1948). Lou, his nickname, dropped out of high school, started working in the lumber industry, and pitched sandlot until getting discovered and signed to play professionally. He pitched for six years (1943-1948) in the minors, and shortly after a breakout season in 1947 (12-7, 193 innings pitched, 144 strikeouts, 11 complete games, 2 shutouts), he was called up to the majors.
