"Well, my dad (Ken Griffey) taught me that there's three parts. There's hitting, there's defense, and there's baserunning. And as long as you keep those three separated, you're going to be a good player. I mean, you can't take your defense on the bases, you can't take your hitting to the field, and you can't take your baserunning at the plate. But defense, is number one." - Griffey Jr., Ken. ESPN Network. Behind The Lines Interview. 13 April 2008. [Ken Griffey, Jr. Quotes]

8: Several of Junior's 630 homers were historic, but eight of them once came in eight consecutive games, tying an incredibly rare Major League record matched previously by Dale Long (1956) and Don Mattingly (1987). [Consecutive Home Run Records]
10: Al Kaline won an American League (AL) record setting ten Gold Glove Awards in the outfield. Junior tied that still-standing AL mark in 1999, but took it one step further, winning all ten of his Gold Gloves consecutively!
11: In 1999, eleven years before Junior retired, Major League Baseball released an All Century Team, and The Kid was one-of-eleven outfielders who made the legendary list!
29: When Junior stepped to the plate on April 5, 2010, he became the twenty-ninth player in baseball history to take the field in a major league record-tying four different decades (1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s). [4 Decade Players]
30: Junior switched to #30 after getting traded to the Reds in 2000, because #24 had already been retired, for Tony Perez. His new number was just as special, it was worn by his father when he played in Cincinnati and Seattle!
42: Junior reversed his number 24, to forty-two on April 15, 1997, to honor Jackie Robinson. Ken met with Commissioner Bud Selig and suggested all players should wear it on Jackie Robinson Day as well, and two years later, a new tradition officially started.
50: On the fiftieth anniversary of the Gold Glove Awards, Rawlings celebrated by selecting the Best Defensive Team in Baseball History, Junior was one-of-the-nine!
51: Junior and his father, Ken Griffey, played on the same team at the same time in 1990, and 1991, appearing together in fifty-one regular season games. The father-and-son duo were the first to ever play together, as well as the first to hit back-to-back home runs (September 14, 1990). Trivia Time! Who was the pitcher that surrendered the historic home runs? [Answer]
2143: Junior collected his 2,143rd career hit on June 20, 2004, tying his dad. Griffey (Sr.) was in the stands that day watching his son play, on Father's Day, and not only did he get to observe that special hit, it was also the 500th career home run of The Kid's career!
