Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"The guy (Matt Kemp) has the all-around game of Joe DiMaggio with the instant impact of Chipper Jones (according to [Dodger Manager Grady] Little), the size and athleticism of Dave Parker (say many scouts) and the talent of Manny Ramirez, but with a better glove (in the estimation of teammate Sandy Alomar, Jr.)." - Verducci, Tom. Matt Kemp, during the post game press conference, said, "I've always thought I could do it. I can run. I can put a little bit of power in it. I just had to put it all together at the same time. It's pretty special. I'm just happy I got to do it here in LA." The "it" Kemp was referring to was the 30-30 Club, hitting at least thirty home runs and stealing at least thirty bases during the same season (2011) - making Matt the second Los Angeles Dodger in the 30-30 Club (joining Raul Mondesi: 30 HR / 32 SB in 1997 & 33 HR / 36 SB in 1999).

In 2009, Matt Kemp won a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger, the second Dodger outfielder to win each baseball award the same season, the first was Dusty Baker in 1981. In 2011, Matt Kemp duplicated the incredibly rare feat, joining the Silver & Gold Club a second time!
