Senators Buy Shortstop Dick Kimble from Toledo

WASHINGTON, Aug. 13 (AP) - The Washington Senators have purchased shortstop Dick Kimble from Toledo of the American Association to bolster the second place American League team.

Owner Clark Griffith of the Senators said he paid a "substantial sum" in order to obtain immediate delivery of Kimble, a lefthanded hitter batting .274 in the American Association

The deal also involves a trade of "several" minor league players in the Washington farm system.

Griffith said Kimble is needed to give shortstop Gil Torres a rest. He will report to the Washington club in Detroit Wednesday.
