Did you know that Charlie Maxwell led all American League (AL) outfielders in fielding percentage in 1957 (.997) and 1960 (.996)? His .534 slugging percentage in 1956 was third in the AL behind Mickey Mantle (.705) and Ted Williams (.605) and his .326 batting average that same year was fourth in the AL behind Mantle (.353), Williams (.345) and Harvey Kuenn (.332).

On May 3, 1959, Charlie Maxwell homered off Don Larsen in the seventh inning, powering his Detroit Tigers to a 4-2 victory over the New York Yankees in Briggs Stadium. In the second game of the doubleheader (box score), Paw Paw blasted a first inning homer off Duke Maas, a fourth inning homer off Johnny Kucks, and a seventh inning homer off Zach Monroe - the first Tiger to homer four times in a twinbill!
