Erik Pappas Path to the Majors: In Spring Training, with the Cubs in 1991, Pappas hit .308 and made the Opening Day roster as a reserve catcher. On April 16, 1991, Joe Girardi was injured and three days later, Erik was behind the plate.

Erick Pappas spent eight years playing the minor leagues, before getting an opportunity to play in the majors. During his three big league seasons, he was sent down, and recalled several times, and continued to play for two more years after his last big league season. In total, he played in 1,270 games professionally, and once caught a perfect game with the Triple-A Oklahoma City 89ers, on August 13, 1996, thrown by World Series Champion Rick Helling!
