Dustin Luis Pedroia was a Major League Baseball player who has spent his entire 14-year career with the Boston Red Sox. The Laser Show, his nickname, was the Rookie of the Year in 2006, just the fourth American League player to receive the honor who spent most of his games at second base, joining Rod Carew (1967), Lou Whitaker (1978), and Chuck Knoblauch (1991)!

Did you know that when Dustin Pedroia hit a leadoff home run on October 24, 2007, during Game 1 of the World Series, he joined Don Buford (1969 World Series) as the only players in baseball history to hit a lead off blast during a Fall Classic opener? Pedroia, who was still in his rookie season, was the thirty-first major leaguer to homer in their first World Series, but the first rookie to do it with a leadoff homer in a series opener!

Did you know that when Dustin Pedroia hit his first career home run, on September 9, 2006, at Fenway Park, he became the first Woodland High School graduate to homer in the big leagues? Two former Woodland students made it to the majors before The Laser Show, Mike Griffin & Tony Torcato, but neither one went deep.

Did you know that Dustin Pedroia hit .3173 in 2007? Why did we include the extra decimal? Because his batting average was the highest by a rookie second baseman in baseball history, a fraction above Jim Viox, who hit .3171 in 1913!

Did you know that Dustin Pedroia hit .327 in 2008, capturing a Silver Slugger Award (the first Red Sox second baseman to ever receive the honor), he also took home the Gold Glove Award (the second Red Sox second baseman, joining Doug Griffin), and the American League Most Valuable Player Award? Pedroia was the fourth Red Sox player to be part of the Silver & Gold Club, but the first in Boston history to also win the MVP!

Did you know that when Dustin Pedroia hit his fortieth double in 2009, on August 24th, he became one of only two Red Sox second baseman with consecutive 40-double seasons? Do you remember who preceded him? Clue: He hit 45 doubles in 1990 and 42 doubles in 1991 (and 42 doubles in 1989, but played shortstop that season). [Answer]

Did you know that when Dustin Pedroia hit three home runs on June 24, 2010, he was the twentieth different Red Sox player with 3-or-more homers in a game, but only the second Boston second baseman to do it, joining a hall of famer? Who was it? [Answer]

Did you know that Dustin Pedroia had a 20/20 season in 2011, hitting a career high 21 home runs, and stealing 26 bases? That same year, Jacoby Ellsbury also had a 20/20 season — the first time two Red Sox players posted a 20/20 season in team history!

Did you know that Dustin Pedroia won a Wilson Defensive Player of The Year Award in 2012, the first year Wilson began honoring players for defensive greatness? Did you know in 2013, Pedey won it again, and Wilson selected him as the best defensive player in the entire American League?

Did you know that when Dustin Pedroia started 159 games at second base in 2013, he set a new BoSox record for most starts at that position in a season? Did you know the record he broke was his own, having started a record-tying 158 games in 2011, a mark matched once before by Marty Barrett in 1986.

Did you know that when Dustin Pedroia hit his one-hundredth career home run, a grand slam on May 2, 2014, he became only the second Red Sox player in franchise history with at least one-hundred home runs and one-hundred stolen bases? The first? Carl Yastrzemski!

Did you know that Dustin Pedroia hit two home runs on Opening Day (April 6, 2015)? Too easy? Did he you know it was only the second time in baseball history where a second baseman had a multi-homer Opening Day game? Do you know who did it before The Laser Show? [Answer]

Did you know that when Dustin Pedroia turned five double plays in a 9-inning game on April 18, 2016, it tied the team record for most in a game by a second baseman? Did you know the Red Sox record he tied was set by hall of famer Bobby Doerr (August 8, 1946)?

Did you know that when Dustin Pedroia committed an error on July 19, 2017, it ended his run of 114 consecutive errorless games at second base, the longest streak by a Red Sox second baseman?

Did you know that Dustin Pedroia made eleven consecutive Opening Day starts with the Red Sox, from 2007 through 2017, the second longest streak in team history? The player with twelve, from 1961 through 1972, was Carl Yastrzemski!

Did you know that when Dustin Pedroia retired in 2021, his career totals - at that point - in Red Sox history were: 6,031 at-bats (9th most), 1,805 hits (8th most), 1,512 games played (11th most), 922 runs scored (10th most), 394 doubles (6th most), and 138 stolen bases (6th most)?

Dwight Evans (8 Gold Gloves / Outfield), Carl Yastrzemski (7 Gold Gloves / Outfield), Fred Lynn (4 Gold Gloves / Outfield), and Dustin Pedroia (4 Gold Gloves / Second Base) are the only Red Sox players to win four or more Gold Gloves. When Dustin joined that group in 2014, he became the first Red Sox infielder to ever win four Gold Gloves!
