Mark Reynolds was born on Wednesday, August 3, 1983, in Pikeville, Kentucky. Reynolds was 23 years old when he broke into the big leagues on May 16, 2007, with the Arizona Diamondbacks. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Mark Reynolds baseball stats page.
"I am definitely going to leave the field dirty. I am not afraid to dive into the stands, I am not afraid to take on a catcher at home plate. I definitely play the game 100 percent, full board all nine innings, and you'll never see me loafing out there. If I am loafing, it must mean that I am hurt. I am a hard-nosed player, and I'll go out there every day with all I've got." - Reynolds, Mark. Orioles thrilled to add Reynolds' bat to lineup. Ghiroli, Brittany. MLB Staff Writer. 6 December 2010.

Mark Reynolds Stats by Baseball Almanac |
Did you know that Mark Reynolds set the National League record for strikeouts in a season by a righthander when he whiffed 223 times in 2009? When he changed leagues in 2011, he whiffed 196 times and broke the American League record for strikeouts in a season by a righthander giving him both league records briefly (in 2013, Chris Carter struck out 212 times in the American League, setting a new, and current, record in the junior circuit).
Did you know that Hack Wilson (1927-1930), Vince DiMaggio (1942-1945), Reggie Jackson (1968-1971), Juan Samuel (1984-1987) and Mark Reynolds (2008-2011) are the only players to lead a league in strikeouts over the course of four consecutive seasons? [Strikeout Records for Hitters]
Did you know that Mark Reynolds has eighteen golden sombrero games in his career (to date), instances where he struck out at least four times in the same game? This is the fifth most in baseball history, behind Adam Dunn (19 Golden Sombreros), Bo Jackson (19 Golden Sombreros), Jim Thome (20 Golden Sombreros), Reggie Jackson (23 Golden Sombreros) and Ryan Howard (27 Golden Sombreros).
Did you know that Mark Reynolds had a "career-day" at the plate on July 7, 2018, driving in 10 RBIs - a feat rarer than a perfect game, two shy of the National League record?
On September 25, 2008, Mark Reynolds struck out looking in the top of the seventh inning, a 3-2 count served up by Joel Pineiro at Busch Stadium. This particular strikeout was historically significant because it marked the first time in Major League history any hitter had ever struck out two-hundred times over the course of a single season (it was also the first time any player from the Arizona Diamondbacks led the league in strikeouts).
Joe Sewell, Willie Keeler and Lloyd Waner are Hall of Fame players (non-pitchers), and none of the three finished their entire career with two-hundred strikeouts.
John Smoltz struck out Mark Reynolds four times before hanging up his cleats and calling it a Hall of Fame career. One of those four occurred on August 19, 2007, during the third inning, a runner on a second base, a 2-2 count, and John Smoltz struck out Reynolds swinging, recording the 2,913th strikeout of his career - breaking the Braves franchise record for strikeouts in a career by a pitcher, previously set by hall of famer Phil Niekro.
