Did you know that on July 26, 1950, Jim Russell hit a home run batting righty versus Harry Brecheen and another lefty against George Munger making Russell the first Major League player in history to hit home runs from each side of the plate more than once?

In 1944 Jim Russell batted a career best .312, ninth in the National League. One of his eight home runs that season was a pinch hit grand slam - the first ever by a Pittsburgh Pirate - on August 20 versus the Brooklyn Dodgers.
