Did you know that Dmitri and Delmon Young, his younger brother, are the first siblings taken within the first five picks of the baseball draft? Dmitri was selected fourth overall in the 1991 draft and Delmon was selected first overall in the 2003 draft.

ESPN Staff Writer Jerry Carsick (Dmitri Young's road to wellness. 12 January 2012.), wrote, "Young's demise and eventual departure from the game were the result of multiple factors -- some external, others self-inflicted -- that coalesced in a mad whirl of chaos and negativity in 2006. In the span of one regrettable calendar year, Young got divorced, entered a treatment center for alcoholism and received a year's probation from a judge for his involvement in a domestic assault case with a former girlfriend. After the Tigers released him and went on to play in the World Series, Young lapsed into a clinical depression." Later that same year (2006), Nick Johnson broke his leg, the Washington Nationals invited Dmitri to camp, and Da Meat Hook made the best of the second chance, getting sent to the All-Star Game and winning every possible Comeback Player of the Year Award (MLB / Players Choice / Sporting News), a first for any player from the Washington Nationals.
