ROSS YOUNGS HALL OF FAME PLAQUE

On August 10, 1926, Ross Youngs played in his final big league game, but was simply too sick to continue playing the rest of the season. Manager John McGraw, who kept only two photos on his desk, Christy Mathewson and Ross Youngs, sent his star right-fielder home. Pep returned to San Antonio (Texas) the day after the game and was diagnosed shortly thereafter with Bright's disease, an inflammation of the kidneys. Medical science was not yet able to treat the kidney disorder and Pep died the following year, at the age of thirty.
