Roger Clemens Game Logs 1980-1989

Roger "The Rocket" Clemens IS one of the games greatest pitchers. Fans love him. Fans hate him. But regardless of how anyone feels about this future Hall of Famer, his numbers speak for themselves.

"I was a sixteen-year-old junior, and they already had two outstanding senior pitchers in Rick Luecken and Raymer Noble. At that point, I wasn't close to completing growing. I was playing defensive end in the fall and had to bulk up to 220, then get down for baseball; and they said I still had baby fat. I was 6'2" and between 200 and 205 pounds, and I hadn't reached my full velocity. I thought I threw somewhere in the mid-eighties, although there are people who claim I was more consistently around 80 miles per hour. Luecken threw 90-91, Noble was 86-87, and they were outstanding." - Roger Clemens

Roger Clemens played High School baseball (1977-1980) at Spring Woods Sr. High School in Houston Texas. He lettered three times, played pitcher & first base, was named to the 2nd & 3rd All-State Team, and was scouted by the Minnesota Twins & Philadelphia Phillies in his senior year.

On April 29, 1986 Roger Clemens struck out twenty Seattle Mariners batters and set a new Major League record for strikeouts in nine-inning game. Did you know that record (19) was held by Steve Carlton, Nolan Ryan & Tom Seaver?

After the performance mentioned above, manager John McNamara said, "I watched perfect games by Catfish Hunter and Mike Witt, but this was the most awesome performance I've ever seen." Share your memories of The Rocket on Baseball Fever.
