Talkin' Mets Baseball

In 1981 Terry Cashman recorded what is more commonly referred to as Talkin' Baseball, which was originally called Willie, Mickey And The Duke. It became — and still is — a very popular pop song that pays tribute to players from the fifties and a variety of variations were released during the following seasons. What follows below is a follow-up to that classic tune which specifically pays tribute to the New York Mets.

"The Stadium was built by Ruth, The Iron Horse was in his youth. The Yankees lineup was a Murderers Row. And after Huggins' reign. They were champions again. And winning became the only game for Marse-a Joe!" - Terry Cashman in Talkin' Yankees Baseball

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing

The new breed were crazy
With Rock, O'Neil, and Casey
The Amazins were the brand new kids in town.
From the Polo Grounds to Shea,
They played the game their way.
By hook and by crook,
They wrote a new book
When they were around

I'm Talkin' Baseball
Roger Craig and Jerry
Amazin' baseball
Elio, Throneberry,
Clendenon, Bud, and Agee stood the test.
The Glider and the Krane would soon be Mets.
Talkin' Baseball,
Baseball and the Mets.

When they got a little older,
They played a little bolder.
Then Hodges took the reins in '68.
A miracle was due,
Cleon and Koos came through.
They made a believer of Mr. Earl Weaver in four games straight

I'm Talkin' Baseball
Tommy was Terrific
Amazin' baseball
Rusty was prolific.
Soon Doc and Straw would walk upon the set
Then the Kid and Keith and Hojo, they would get
I'm Talkin' Baseball,
Baseball and the Mets.

Goodbye, America
When Say Hey said "So long"
Mookie dodged that Boston pitch
Piazza always got big hits
Ventura hit that one-run grand slam
And Fonzie was our man.

Now we see them rushin'
To the stadium in Flushing
They play amazin' baseball in the Fall.
Pedro pitched with all his heart,
El Duque tried, but couldn't start.
But Willie says when and we go to the pen, so let's play ball

I'm Talkin' Baseball
Reyes, Floyd, and Mr. Wright
Amazin' baseball
Delgado's bat is dynamite
Aaron, Paul, and Tom, and Billy, they're all set.
And Carlos Beltran, he's as good as it gets.

Talkin' Baseball,
Baseball and the Mets.

I'm Talkin' Baseball, baseball and the Mets (Los Mets, Los Mets, Los Mets)
Amazin' baseball, baseball (Los Mets, Los Mets, Los Mets)
Armando beisbol, the Metropolitans (Los Mets, Los Mets, Los Mets)
Talkin' Baseball (Los Mets, Los Mets, Los Mets)
Amazin' baseball, baseball, they're amazin' (Los Mets, Los Mets, Los Mets)
Baseball, baseball and the Mets (Los Mets, Los Mets, Los Mets)
