In 1904, Tommy Leach of the Pittsburgh Pirates had five-hundred eighty-three chances at third base - the modern single season record.

Joe Farrell played in two consecutive games at third with Detroit on June 30, and July 1, 1884, and had a major league record twenty-three chances for two consecutive games.

On August 23, 1920, Larry Gardner of Cleveland played in twenty-one innings of a doubleheader and set the record for longest doubleheader without a chance at third.
