Putout Records by Pitchers

On June 9, 1949, Dick Fowler of the Philadelphia Athletics had seven putouts in a twelve inning game which is the Major League record for most putouts by a pitcher in an extra inning game.

The modern record for most putouts in a National League single season was thirty-nine — Vic Willis did it once and Greg Maddux did it three times. In 1999 Kevin Brown broke their modern record when he had forty-one with the Dodgers and came within nine of the all-time record.

The putouts in an inning record is truly an exceptional feat considering the amount of times this could have occurred in history, yet to date there have only been twelve instances by eleven pitchers.
