Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium Historical Analysis
Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was often synonymous with poor attendance and a poor playing field. Ted Turner arrived in 1976 at the same time 970 fans turned out to see a Braves versus Astros doubleheader.
Until 1989, Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium did not have its own full time groundskeeper and players often complained about the playing field. In came manager Bobby Cox and General Manager John Schuerholz and the stadium became home of the most dominant team of the 1990s. |

"One of my goals in life was to be surrounded by unpretentious rich young men. Then I bought the Braves and I was surrounded by twenty-five of them." - Ted Turner
