The Cleveland Spiders traveling secretary received a locket at the completion of the 1899 season. The inscription on the locket read, "The only person who had the misfortune to watch all our games."
The team was often made fun of during road trips and many nicknames were bestowed upon them including the Exiles, Barnstormers, Forsakens & Wanderers.
Did you know that during the final game of their history Eddie Kolb, a cigar stand clerk at the Queen City Hotel, pitched for the Cleveland Spiders in his first & only Major League game (he lost 19-3)?
