Did you know that the Providence Grays never finished lower than third (3rd) place during the first seven (7) of their eight (8) seasons?

The first "World Series" was played in October of 1884. The National League Providence Grays defeated the American Association New York Mets three games to none claiming the first ever world championship.

The Providence Grays left the National League before 1886 and the Washington Senators took their vacancy.
