Germán Durán was a Major League Baseball player for the Texas Rangers (2008). Duran was born in Zacatecas, Mexico, raised in Fort Worth, Texas, and drafted in 2003 by the Cincinnati Reds, out of Paschal High School (Fort Worth, TX).

German Duran chose not to sign, went on to Weatherford College, then transferred to Texas Christian University, where he posted a .330/.427/.492 slash line, a Collegiate Baseball All-American his freshman year at TCU.

Duran was drafted again, this time in the sixth round of the 2005 Baseball Draft, and was signed for $90,000, by a scout named Jay Eddings, beginning his professional baseball career.

Duran progressed through the minor league system systematically, moving from A- ball in 2005 (Spokane Indians), to A+ in 2006 (Bakersfield Blaze), to Double-A in 2007 (Frisco RoughRigers), and on to Triple-A in 2008 (Oklahoma RedHawks), before being called-up Rangers that same year.
