His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Jose Altuve baseball stats page.
"He (Jose Altuve) hits everything. You throw him a breaking ball and he stays inside and pulls it. Throw a fastball away and he goes away. He moves the ball around the ballpark. He doesn't try to do anything extra. He tries to make good contact and use the whole field. He's a pretty good hitter. That's why he leads the league." - Washington, Ron. Texas Rangers Manager (2007-2014). Altuve's four-hit game helps Astros rally past Rangers. McTaggart, Brian. MLB Staff Writer. 31 August 2014.

Jose Altuve Stats by Baseball Almanac |
On September 28, 2014, Jose Altuve went 2-for-4 in the final game of the year, a 3-8 loss versus the Mets. In the post game press conference, Altuve said, "That means a lot. That's something I've been working for, and I'm trying to help my team every day." The hits helped Altuve push his batting average to .341, the highest in the American League, earning him the batting championship — the first Houston Astros player to win a batting title. Altuve continued, "And to win a batting title and being the first one in franchise history is pretty exciting to me."
Did you know that Jose Altuve was the first player in Astros history to reach 200 hits in consecutive seasons (2014-2015)? In 2014, Altuve finished with an American League leading 200-hits (Top 25), the second player in franchise history with a 200-hit season, joining Craig Biggio, who had 210 hits in 1998. In 2015, Altuve finished with an American League leading 225-hits (Top 25), a new franchise record for hits in a season.
Did you know that Jose Altuve also led the American League (AL) in stolen bases those same two seasons (2014-2015), joining Snuffy Stirnweiss (1944-1945) as the only players in baseball history to lead the AL in both hits and steals in back-to-back seasons?
Did you know that when Jose Altuve hit for the cycle on August 28, 2023, it was the ninth in Astros history, the third hit on the 28th of August, and the seventh by a Venezuelan-born player?
Besides being former big league players, what do Richie Ashburn and Jose Altuve have in common? On May 29, 1948, Whitey led off a game, hit the first home run of his career, and it was an inside the park homer. The next player to repeat the feat (first career home run, batting leadoff, inside the park homer), was Jose Altuve, on August 20, 2011!
