Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"The premier second baseman in Cuban Winter League baseball was Manuel Cueto. His backup is Bienvenido Jiménez. Cueto, known as 'Hombre Diablo' (Devil Man), was born in Havana on February 8, 1892. He played in the CWL from 1912 to 1933, batting a hefty .298 ... Cueto was a dependable defensive player with a good glove. But he was better known for an offensive threat. The little right handed hitter was an outstanding bat handler who could hit, hit and run, bunt, or coax a walk, depending on the situation." - Author William McNeil in Baseball's Other All-Stars: The Greatest Players from the Negro Leagues, the Japanese Leagues, the Mexican League, and the Pre-1960 Winter Leagues in Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic (McFarland Publishing, 03/01/2000, Page 102)
