Johnny Damon was born on Monday, November 5, 1973, in Fort Riley, Kansas. Damon was 21 years old when he broke into the big leagues on August 12, 1995, with the Kansas City Royals. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Johnny Damon baseball stats page.
"(Johnny) Damon was as self-effacing off the field as he was talented on it. And he acknowledged as he shot through the minors he was grappling with the kind of personal challenge that every ballplayer must conquer to succeed. 'My biggest adjustment,' he said, 'has been learning not to be afraid to fail.'" - Baseball Digest. July 2002. Hohler Bob. Boston Globe Staff Writer. Page 18.

Did you know that when Johnny Damon went 6-for-6 on June 7, 2008, he became the first left-handed New York Yankees hitter to collect six hits in a nine-inning game? Do you know who was the right-handed Bronx Bomber was that came before Damon? [Answer]
Johnny Damon (6-for-6) | The Hartford Curant | June 8, 2008 | Page C2Baseball Almanac Research Library
In 1998, Johnny Damon took the field in every single game, the fourth Kansas City Royals player to appear in ever game during a non-strike season, joining Hal McRae, Al Cowens, and Paul Schaal. Damon did not lead the American League in any hitting statistic, but he did hit 30 doubles, 10 triples, 18 home runs, and swiped 26 bags — the only player in the majors that season to reach double figures in doubles, triples, homers and stolen bases!
In 2000, Johnny Damon crossed the plate an American League (AL) leading 136 times, the second Kansas City Royals player to lead the AL in runs scored, joining Willie Wilson (133 Runs Scored in 1980). Wilson not only led the junior circuit, he set the Royals' record for runs scored in a season, Damon broke that record, and through today no player in Kansas City has ever scored more runs than Johnny.
Johnny Damon Video | Three Hits in an Inning | 27 June 2003 | Fenway Park
On June 27, 2003, Johnny Damon hit a single in the first inning, a double in the first inning, and a triple in the first inning — tying the Major League record for hits in an inning, just the second American League player to go 3-for-3 during the same inning, joining fellow Red Sox outfielder Gene Stephens. Cavemen did not complete the cycle, but his bat was sent to the Baseball Hall of Fame!
