Darren Daulton was born on Wednesday, January 3, 1962, in Arkansas City, Kansas. Daulton was 21 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 25, 1983, with the Philadelphia Phillies. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Darren Daulton baseball stats page.
"Essentially the same player as Mickey Tettleton, with modest differences. He was a left-handed hitter (Tettleton was a switch hitter), didn't hit quite as many home runs as Tettleton or walk quite as much, but had a much better arm and better overall defensive skills. An interesting thing about Daulton is that although he had knee surgery every winter, in his career he was 50-for-60 as a base stealer — the fifth best stolen base percentage in baseball history — and almost never grounded into a double play." - Baseball Historian Bill James in The New Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract (Free Press Publishing, 06/13/2003, #25. Darren Arthur Daulton was a Major League Baseball player with the Philadelphia Phillies (1983, 1985-1997) and Florida Marlins (1997). Dutch, his nickname, was a three-time All-Star (1992, 1993, 1995) with the Phils and a World Series champion (1997) the one year he played with the Fish! On August 15, 1990, Daulton caught his first no-hitter in the majors, do you remember who the pitcher was that historic day? [Answer]
In 1992, Darren Daulton hit 27 homers, drove in 109 runs (RBI), and ended the year with a .270 batting average, the highest by any catcher from either league that season — Daulton earned his first all-star appearance, finished sixth in the MVP Award, and won the National League Silver Slugger Award — the first Philadelphia Phillies catcher to receive the honor!

Did you know that Darren Daulton, 109 RBI in 1992, was only the fifth catcher to lead the National League in RBI? Those who came before Dutch were: Deacon White (60 RBI in 1876), Roy Campanella (142 RBI in 1953), Johnny Bench (148 RBI in 1970, 125 RBI in 1972, 129 RBI in 1974), and Gary Carter (106 RBI in 1984). Darren Daulton was added to the Philadelphia Baseball Wall of Fame in 2010, the third catcher in team history to receive the honor, joining Mickey Cochrane (1982) and Bob Boone (2005). At the ceremony, Philadelphia Phillies President David Montgomery said, "Darren was more than just an outstanding catcher and middle of the order hitter. He was our leader, both on the field and in the clubhouse. His leadership played a huge role in the success of our 1993 team. His recognition as the 2010 Phillies Wall of Fame inductee is richly deserved."
