James Edward Dickson was a Major League Baseball player who pitched for the Houston Colt .45s (1963), Cincinnati Reds (1964), and Kansas City Athletics (1965-1966). When Jim, his nickname, made his big league debut on July 2, 1963, he became the first Seaside High School graduate to play in the majors!

The 1965 Kansas City Athletics finished tenth in the American League (1965), losing 103 games. The pitching staff had the worst ERA (4.24) in the league, the most losses (103), the most wild pitches (67), and the least number of complete games (18). Jim Dickson took the mound in relief in 68 games that year, surrendered exactly 68 hits, went 3-and-2, and had a 3.47 earned run average!
