Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"On the love meter, as far as the fans are concerned, they're (Mike Krukow & Duane Kuiper) totally off the charts. They just really resonate because they played, and then they stayed, with the organization. The fans don't just respect them and enjoy them for their play-by-play and color accounts. It's more than that. At various points throughout their time broadcasting with us, we've had situations where the team didn't have stars or popular players, and they were as popular as any of the people in uniform." - Baer, Larry. San Francisco Giants President, Mike Krukow, Duane Kuiper to get extensions. 24 December 2010.

Did you know that Mike Krukow, along with Duane Kuiper ("Kruk and Kuip" / San Francisco Giants broadcasting team), are the voices heard in the EA video games MVP Baseball 2003, 2004 and 2005?

Mike Krukow was a catcher at San Gabriel High School (San Gabriel, California), a record setting (Career ERA, 1.94 / Most Shutouts in a Season, 5) pitcher at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, a 20-game winner for the 1986 San Francisco Giants, a two-time recipient of the Willie Mac Award (1985 and 1986, team spirit and leadership), and a successful radio and television sportscaster known for his deep knowledge of the game, his tremendous sense of humor and his "Kruktionary" (think "Stengelese" or "Yogi-isms"):

Kruktionary

Lingo Used Definition
Batina Bungie A hit off a check swing.
Cement Mixer A slider that doesn't slide.
Dead Bird A bloop single.
Elephant Ear A hitter's pocket flap hanging out.
Fist Grenade A hard pitch at the batter's hands.
