Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"You know, Dartmouth (College - He attended, but did not play) is just like the Giants: once a Giant, always a Giant. And this is quoted from Chaucer: once a Dartmouth, always a Dartmouth. You never lose that affection for the old school, regardless if you just get in there and get a cup of coffee. They instill that spirit into you that lasts. Dartmouth men are very, very close, all over the world. They'll never turn you down." - Chief Meyers in The Glory of Their Times (1992)

In 1883, Francis Richter founded The Sporting Life, a weekly magazine devoted to coverage of all sports, with an emphasis on baseball. In 1887, Richter, and other baseball journalists, formed the Base Ball Reporters Association of America, also referred to as the National Base Ball Reporters' Association.
