Hal Naragon was born on Monday, October 1, 1928, in Zanesville, Ohio. Naragon was 22 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 23, 1951, with the Cleveland Indians. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Hal Naragon baseball stats page.
"Naragon, Harold Richard: Only the presence of Jim Hegan kept Hal Naragon from establishing himself as one of baseball's best catchers in the 1950s. When he came up as a rookie in 1954, in fact, he was called 'a carbon copy of Hegan,' though Naragaon was never able to win a starting job. An excellent receiver and handler of pitchers, Naragon played behind Hegan in Cleveland then backed up Earl Battey at Washington and Minnesota." - Historian Russell Schneider in The Cleveland Indians Encyclopedia (Sports Publishing LLC, 09/01/2004, Page 228)
