"I played for ten years, but that first day in the big leagues was a dream come true because it was always something I wanted to do. I knew there was always those people that had the doubt. So when you go out and you set forth a dream and a goal and you work toward it and you get to experience it, it's like nothing else." - Steve Swisher (Sawchik, Travis. The Lantern. 23 May 2001.)

Steve Swisher Stats by Baseball Almanac |
Steven Eugene Swisher was a Major League Baseball player with the Chicago Cubs (1974-1977), St. Louis Cardinals (1978-1980), and San Diego Padres (1981-1982). Steve, his nickname, was the first player selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 1973 baseball draft, but they traded him (Ken Frailing, Jim Kremmel, and Steve Stone) to the Cubs later that same year for a future hall of fame third baseman. Do you know who it was? [Answer]
Did you know that Steve Swisher was the first South High School (Parkerburg, WV) graduate to play Major League Baseball? Too easy? Did you know that ESPN Senior Writer Jim Caple published an article on July 3, 2014, listing the five worst players named All-Stars and had Swish second, saying:
2. Steve Swisher (1976)
No, not Nick Swisher — I mean his father, Steve, who hit a career .216 with a .581 OPS. And he still made the 1976 All-Star team despite batting .216. But this is what happens when you're the NL manager and required to name at least one Cub to the team.
