His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Javier Vazquez baseball stats page.
"That's the Vazquez I know. They talk about losing (Roger) Clemens and Andy (Pettitte). This kid's going to be a big plus for them. What you see from that kid is what you're going to get. I hate to say this because I'm going to play against him, but he's a special kid. Joe Torre is going to have fun with that kid." - Guillen, Ozzie. Chicago White Sox Manager. Vazquez Quickly Shows How the 29 Other Teams Are Helping the Yankees. Chass, Murray. New York Times Staff Writer. 9 April 2004.

Javier Vazquez Stats by Baseball Almanac |
Did you know that only eighteen pitchers in Major League Baseball history have earned a win against all thirty Major League teams? Sportswriter AJ Cassavell once wrote, "Beating one Major League team figures to be difficult enough for a starting pitcher. Beating all 30 of them, however, is nothing short of pitching history." We agree and are pleased to present the I've Beaten Every Major League Team "club" that includes these 18 twirlers: Kevin Brown, A.J. Burnett, Bartolo Colon, Dan Haren, Tim Hudson, Randy Johnson, John Lackey, Al Leiter (who started the "club"), Kyle Lohse, Derek Lowe, Jamie Moyer, Terry Mulholland, Vicente Padilla, Max Scherzer, Curt Schilling, Javier Vazquez, Woody Williams and Barry Zito.
On May 28, 2005, Javier Vazquez was batting in the bottom of the seventh inning, bases were empty, two men were out, and on an 0-1 count, Vazquez hit a Duaner Sanchez pitch over the wall in Chase Field for his first (and only) big league home run. Let's take a look at a pitching record he set:
PlunkIng Your Way Into Baseball History
On September 23, 2010, Javier Vazquez tied the Major League record with three hit batsmen in the same inning - the ninth instance in American League history.
During the seventh inning, Vazquez came in, walked one, then plunked Desmond Jennings, Willy Aybar and Kelly Shoppach.
After the game Vazquez said in The New York Daily News, "I don't think it's that big of a deal," Vazquez said. "I had pretty good command besides those pitches. I was throwing the ball where I wanted." His manager, Joe Girardi, didn't quite agree and said, "In all the years, I've never seen Javy like that."
Javier Vazquez had a perfect fielding percentage (1.000) in 1998, 2001, 2006, 2008 and 2009. However, The Silent Assassin never won a Gold Glove Award at the pitcher position losing to Greg Maddux (1998, 2001), Kenny Rogers (2006), Mike Mussina (2008) and Adam Wainwright (2009) respectively.
