The Liberty University baseball program started in 1974 and Sid Bream was their first player to make it to the Major League level.

Former Flame Randy Tomlin broke into the big leagues in 1990, pitched five (5) seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates, then joined the coaching staff at Liberty University in 1997.
