The University of Hartford baseball program started in 1959 and Jeff Bagwell was their first player to make it to the Major League level. Names that appear on the chart above in bold print are in the University of Hartford Hall of Fame.
Jeff Bagwell was inducted into the University of Hartford's Hall of Fame during in 1997. His entry on there website reads as follows:
"Jeff Bagwell, who played third base for Hartford from 1987 to 89 and is the New England career leader in batting average at .413, is currently playing first base for the Houston Astros. He is among Houston's career leaders in batting average, slugging percentage, home runs and RBIs. He was the 1994 National League MVP, 1991 Rookie of the Year, and is a five-time All-Star (1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999)."
