On April 22, 1932, Frankie Pytlak of the Cleveland Indians caught his first Major League game and did not commit an error until his ninety-fourth game setting a record for most consecutive errorless games caught from the start of a Major League career.
Jerry Grote (April 15, 1968), Doc Powers (September 1, 1906), Buddy Rosar (July 21, 1945), Bob Swift (July 21, 1945), and Hal King (April 15, 1968) have each participated in a twenty-four inning game at catcher without committing a single error tieing each other for longest game caught in Major League history without an error by the catcher.
Consecutive chances accepted by a catcher without an error have also been researched and Charles Johnson of the Florida Marlins holds the Major League record for most consecutive chances without an error in a season with nine-hundred seventy-three in 1997 and Mike Matheny of the St. Louis Cardinals holds the Major League record for most consecutive chances without an error over the course of a career with one-thousand five-hundred sixty-five (August 2, 2002 through August 1, 2004).
