"He (Pitching Coach Dave Duncan) lets me know what I can and can't do in certain situations, but like I said — I'll stress it every time — I look back there and, seeing the guys behind me, seeing the defense they play, and aggressive they are, it helps out." - Williams, Woody. W. Williams deal a coup for Cards. Obert, Richard. Arizona Republic Staff Writer. 11 October 2001. Page C7.

Gregory Scott Williams was a Major League Baseball player who pitched with the Toronto Blue Jays (1993–1998), San Diego Padres (1999–2001), St. Louis Cardinals (2001–2004), San Diego Padres (2005–2006), and Houston Astros (2007). Did you know that when Woody, his nickname, made his big league debut on May 14, 1993, he became the first Cy-Fair High School (Cypress, Texas) graduate to play in the majors? Do you know who was second? [Answer]

Did you know that when Woody Williams took the field during Game 1 of the 2005 Division Series, he became the first starting pitcher in the first-ever playoff game at Petco Park?
Did you know that only eighteen pitchers in Major League Baseball history have earned a win against all thirty Major League teams? Sportswriter AJ Cassavell once wrote, "Beating one Major League team figures to be difficult enough for a starting pitcher. Beating all 30 of them, however, is nothing short of pitching history." We agree and are pleased to present the I've Beaten Every Major League Team "club" that includes these 18 twirlers: Kevin Brown, A.J. Burnett, Bartolo Colon, Dan Haren, Tim Hudson, Randy Johnson, John Lackey, Al Leiter (who started the "club"), Kyle Lohse, Derek Lowe, Jamie Moyer, Terry Mulholland, Vicente Padilla, Max Scherzer, Curt Schilling, Javier Vazquez, Woody Williams and Barry Zito.
Rafael Furcal Unassisted Triple Play | Busch Stadium | 10 August 2003
On August 10, 2003, Atlanta Braves shortstop Rafael Furcal caught a hard hit line drive (out #1), touched second base where Mike Matheny had left (out #2), then tagged Orlando Palmeiro who was trying to return back to first base (out #3) — an incredibly rare unassisted triple play. Why did we mention this here? Because Woody Williams was the batter that day, the first, and through today, only pitcher to hit into an unassisted triple play in baseball history!
Woody Williams Gets a Hit | The Asbury Park Press | 14 June 1997Baseball Almanac Research Library
Woody Williams hit a single into right field in the fifth inning, off Curt Schilling, on June 13, 1997 — the first Toronto Blue Jays pitcher to record a hit during a regular season game (interleague play started in 1997). Williams finished his "hitting career" in Toronto with three three singles, the most hits by a pitcher in franchise history until 2018! Do you know what pitcher passed him that year? [Answer]
