Baseball Grandfathers, Fathers and Sons

Imagine three generations of the same family making it to the Major League level. Each of these grandfather-father-son combinations have accomplished just that and the most unique "leaf" on this branch of the baseball family tree is each father brought two sons on board.

"If you're doing a quality job, you should be almost anonymous." - Bob Boone (father of Aaron Boone & Bret Boone / son of Ray Boone)

Grandfather, Father & Son

Sammy Hairston had one other son that also played Major League baseball giving Jerry and his brother John another entry in the family baseball book.

The Hairston family is the most recent addition to this list as Jerry Hairston, Jr. made it into the major leagues in the 1998 season & his brother Scott Hairston appeared in his rookie season during the 2004 season.

Did you know that the grandfather, father, and son combination is the second rarest in the baseball family tree? Did you know there have been many situations where a daughter has been involved? The most recent is Dick Schofield whose son-in-law Dennis Werth had his son Jayson Werth make it to the show.
