Did you know that the Boston Red Sox have been wrongly referred to as the Puritans, the Pilgrims & the Somersets? Read The Boston Pilgrims Never Existed for a very informative look at Red Sox (click here for the Americans' managers) team nicknames. Too easy you say? Did you know that Joe McCarthy did not wear any uniform number when managing both the New York Yankees & Boston Red Sox? The National Baseball Hall of Fame checked their scorecards for Baseball Almanac and found him listed (1948-1950) without a uniform number.

During the 2008 season the Red Sox, who had a ninety-five & sixty-seven record, had their largest team attendance when 3,048,250 fans attended home games at Fenway Park.
