Narciso Elvira started in the Mexican League, moved on to the minors, reached the majors, was sent back down to the minors, played again in the Mexican League, and rounded out his career pitching in the Nippon Professional Baseball League, he became the first Mexican-born pitcher to throw a no hitter (June 20, 2000)!
On January 28, 2020, Narciso Elvira and his son were shot and killed in their home (Veracruz, Mexico). The Ministry for Public Security condemned the "assassination" in a press release, and added that they were working with local and federal law enforcement to find the murderers.
