No-hitter records set by the pitchers who achieved near pitching perfection, and the catchers who were behind the plate. One of the most difficult record books to get into, and one that is truly an honor to be mentioned in. Research by Baseball Almanac.
"He's (Nolan Ryan [Major League record holder for no hitters during a career]) baseball's exorcist, scares the devil out of you." - Sharon, Dick. Detroit Tigers Outfielder. (Stewart, Wayne. Baseball Digest: Intimidation Helps Pitchers Psyche Out the Batters. March 1995. Page 69.)

No-Hitter Records | Research by Baseball Almanac |
On June 11, 1938, Johnny Vander Meer pitched a no-hitter. During his next start, June 15, 1938, he pitched another no-hitter becoming the first and only pitcher to ever throw consecutive no hitters.
Consecutive HITLESS Innings Pitched Record: Johnny Vander Meer, during his back-to-back no-hitters, set the National League record for consecutive hitless innings with twenty-one and two-thirds (21.2). The American League record was set by Cy Young himself, who threw 25.1 hitless innings across four games, including his perfect game, in 1904!
Did you know that four pitchers have thrown a no-hitter during their VERY FIRST START — Ted Breitenstein (October 4, 1891), Bumpus Jones (October 15, 1892), Bobo Holloman (May 6, 1953), and Tyler Gilbert (August 14, 2021).
* Cristian Javier & Ryan Pressly were part of two combined no-hitters in 2022, June 25, 2022 & November 2, 2022, with the Houston Astros.
EVERY single American League, National League, Union Association, and American Association no-hitter are listed on Baseball Almanac's pitching menu.
