Philadelphia Phillies Most Valuable Player Award

Members of the Philadelphia chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America vote annually for the Philadelphia Phillies Most Valuable Player Award receipient, also called the Mike Schmidt Most Valuable Player Award.

Similar in nature to a Most Valuable Player Award, but simply team specific, the Mike Schmidt Most Valuable Player Award has been given since 2004 to the Philadelphia Phillies player who consistently performed at the top of their game during the season.

Philadelphia Phillies who have won the Mike Schmidt Most Valuable Player Award more than once are: Ryan Howard - the first & only player to date.

In 2004 the Philadelphia area baseball writers also created the Steve Carlton Most Valuable Pitcher Award, the Dallas Green Special Achievement Award, and the Tug McGraw Good Guy Award.
